A two-year study of 1,801 obese women working to lose weight found that women who adopted one or more of the following strategies during a 24-month effort were the most successful in losing weight:Reduce the amount of fat in your diet

-Eat more fruits and vegetables
-Cut sweets from their diet
-Eat small portions
Women who used some or all of these strategies lost weight, while women who did not use any of these strategies actually gained weight.

“We encourage people to look at servings instead of counting calories. You have to be a good consumer, you have to understand what is in the food you eat. Understand the protein content, fat content, fiber content.
